On the occasion of World Environment Day (Monday, June 5), the team from Pahal Welfare Foundation organized tree plantation and awareness programs. These events were held with students at a school for underprivileged children near Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West, as well as at various locations across Gaur City.
World Environment Day is observed annually on June 5. The primary objective of this day is to raise public awareness about the environment. Additionally, trees are planted in various locations to ensure a better future for coming generations. Schools, colleges, offices, and various institutions organize diverse programs on this day to educate and sensitize people.
Mr. D.K. Singh, President of Pahal Welfare Foundation, explained that the observance of World Environment Day was initiated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. It was first celebrated in 1974, after which it began to be observed globally. The main goal is to create awareness so that people understand the significance of the day. It serves as an occasion to educate the public about critical issues such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, and the loss of biodiversity.
Mr. Rajiv Chatterjee, Secretary of Pahal Welfare Foundation, stated that preserving the environment is essential for the safety of our planet and human life. While nations across the globe are advancing towards modernity, the increasing use of certain materials and changing lifestyles are putting the environment at risk. There is a profound connection between humanity and the environment; life is impossible without nature. Consequently, humans must live in harmony with nature. However, the continuous pollution of the environment is leading to various problems—not only affecting our daily lives but also triggering natural disasters. Environmental conservation is vital for a happy and healthy life, and it is with this objective that World Environment Day is celebrated every year. Mr. Rajendra Singh Chaudhary, who runs a school for underprivileged children, stated that the environment has held great significance since ancient times, as conserving nature is akin to worshipping it. In our country, elements such as mountains, rivers, air, fire, celestial bodies, and flora are all intrinsically linked to human life; however, this connection is being continuously damaged due to increasing development.
Present on this occasion were D.K. Singh (President of the 'Pahal' organization), Rajiv Chatterjee (Secretary), Ram Narayan Tripathi (Joint-Secretary), Krishnakant Singh, Lalit Narayan, Priya Singh, Tanvi Singh, Madan Lal, Rajendra Singh Chaudhary, Rekha Sharma, Meena Bansal, and other members.
