Hundreds line up at Gaur Chowk for a traffic-awareness campaign

On Sunday 15 May, Pahal Welfare Foundation and the Gautam Buddha Nagar traffic police ran a joint awareness campaign in Greater Noida West, making people aware of traffic rules.

Hundreds of members of the foundation, along with the traffic police, briefed drivers at Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West on the rules of the road, and explained the use and usefulness of helmets and seat belts while driving.

Foundation president D.K. Singh said Pahal had made a plan with Traffic DCP Ganesh Prasad Sah to organise traffic-awareness campaigns in every area of Gautam Buddha Nagar, under which street plays (nukkad natak) and traffic-awareness programmes would be held at various locations.

Giving detailed information on the rules, Rakesh Yadav of the Gautam Buddha Nagar traffic police team said guardians should not let children under 18 drive two- or four-wheelers; every driver above 18 must wear a helmet and seat belt, carry all the vehicle's documents, and not drive at speed so that neither the driver nor others are put in danger.

Traffic Inspector C.P. Mishra, Ashutosh Singh and Shailendra Kushwaha administered the oath of traffic rules to all the volunteer members present and made them aware of road safety. They added that the leading causes of accidents are not following traffic rules and driving unsafely — which is why every person must follow the rules.
